Why to Call with Internet Telephony?

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Internet Telephony is here to stay
Internet Telephony is the newest technology in telephony that allow us to make and received phone calls over the net, much in the same way that email is sent from one pc to another. Just a few short years ago most of us could not have provided the name of one IP-Telephony provider. But now, after much technological advancement and with the hard work of developers, there are many Internet Telephony providers popping up all over the place.

Cheap calls like we have never seen
IP-Telephony is revolutionary because it has lowered the cost of long distance and international telephone calls to rates that we have never seen before. For example, if a Internet Telephony user in Italy has signed up with the same provider as a family member in Mexico, they will be free to call each other at absolutely no cost without limitation. Suddenly there is no distance!
Now this does not matter if the two people are located in the same country.

There are many ways to make Internet Telephony calls
Customers tap into Internet Telephony in many different ways. Calls can be made from a phone that has been connected to a router with an Internet connection. Customers can make phone calls through a pc that has a software installed or there are even phone cards available that providers offer to allow us to use normal phones to access a IP-Telephony phone line for lower calls.

There are many positives with Internet Telephony
Customers only have to hear about the great rates that are involved and the simplicity of getting connected to this technology and they are ready to convert their phone service to a provider. One of the reasons that providers enjoy almost guaranteed success is that there are many advantages to Internet Telephony phone service and not many negatives.

Do the research on IP-Telephony
Some providers will charge for some services and not for others and so if you are looking for the most economic deal, you will have to shop around a bit and do some comparing of rates.
The only variety that I have found between the various providers are the rates that they charge. If you have been hearing talk of providers but are unsure what provider to contact for service, try doing a little research on the Internet before committing to anything.

Voip Pbx System Or Analog Pbx

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

To stay with your Analog PBX or throw it away in favor of Internet Telephony?

Why to reject services which would promise to improve the productivity?
Substitute the Analog PBX for a modern Virtual VoIP PBX and take all the benefits this new technology offers.

How to proceed?

You can decide whether to have:
- analog,
- digital, or
- IP phones
on your desk and if to go with TDM or VoIP phone services to be linked with the outside. With some systems you’ll be able to mix.

Which one is the right solution for me?
TDM?
VoIP?
or Both?
Why not?

Many phone system that handles more phone handsets gives you an option on how to connect phones to the PSTN.

A pure Voip system operates totally in the IP world from handset to call termination. The equivalent to the traditional PBX is the IP PBX. The IP PBX is generally a software running on a Linux system. Handsets are referred to as SIP phones.
SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is a switching protocol which controls the phone calls over the Internet. Calls between subscribers to the same Internet Telephony service provider never leave the network and never enter the PSTN. Calls from and to non-subscribers are terminated to the PSTN at the provider’s location.

Most of the time, you can mix purely analog phone systems, purely digital and TDM phone systems and purely VoIP phone systems. A Voip system may well have FXS (Foreign Exchange Subscriber or Station) ports to connect to analog handsets, as do traditional PBX phone systems. The phone service connection can be ISDN, T1, analog or SIP Trunking.

Most of the time, modern Voip PBX phone systems offer a broader range of handset and phone service connection options than legacy PBX systems. Before you make any big purchases or plans to scrap you current phone system, you should consult an expert or look for relevant information in one of the many Voip Review Sites you’ll find online.

Verizon VoIP offers several advantages

Verizon VoIP is an arm of Verizon Communications Inc, one of the leading providers of communications services in the US. The company’s annual turnover is $71 billion and it has 214,000 employees on its rolls. The company invested more than $72 billion to maintain, upgrade and expand its technology infrastructure from mid-2000 to mid-2005.

The important businesses of Verizon are:

— Domestic Telecom, which provides customers with wireline and other telecommunications services, including broadband.

– Verizon Wireless, which owns and operates the nation’s most reliable wireless network, serving 49.3 million voice and data customers across the United States. The network is 100 percent digital, with 164 switching facilities and more than 23,000 cell sites nationwide.

– Information Services, which operate directory-publishing businesses and provides electronic commerce services.

–. International Service, which include wireline and wireless operations and investments, primarily in America and Europe.

The movement of Verizon in the VoIP space was only natural. The fact that Verizon was already providing DSL to homes and offices made its movement easier. It was a useful value addition for Verizon’s broadband customers too, who bought the VoIP phone service that Verizon offered, with all its attendant advantages.

The biggest advantage of this service is number portability. A Verizon customer can choose an area code of his liking. This reduces the cost of calling because all calls to that area code are treated as local calls. The customer can also carry the number with him, even if he leaves the city. This is one facility that conventional phones can’t offer.

Verizon VoIP also brought in several other features. This included call plans where the customer could make unlimited calls within the United States and Canada. Verizon also reduced the international call rates sharply, making the service very attractive for customers who had friends or family members living abroad.

Among other ting, the customer can access voice mail on the web, and change service options (such as caller ID or call waiting) and billing options online. All these features have made Verizon VoIP a great service option for both residential and business customers.
